Piss Mario started out as a side project.
I’ve been doing webcomics for more years than I care to admit, and was always fascinated by the spriters. It seems that you either like spriting or you feel it’s the root of all evil, and more people are vocal about hating it than liking it.
So I decided to see what I could do with MSPaint and a few sprite sheets. If I was proficent enough at it, there was another idea to be explored.
That idea hasn’t happened yet, but may still one day.
I’ve experimented with other graphics programs, but keep coming back to the simplicity of Paint. Seconds to learn, and as barebones as possible. I like that.
It also shows in the comic. Not a whole lot in the way of backgrounds, which I find a bit distracting in other comics. The worst font for expression, which seems to fit right in for some reason. And overwhelmingly a 3-panel, gag-a-day format.
Simple. Easy. Reliable.
Why did I come back, after almost two years gone? The answer is terribly boring. All that matters is that the comic is back for a bit. So enjoy.
